Ryan Selkis, the CEO of Messari, a crypto research platform, has apologised for making a series of extremist pro- Donald Trump comments.
In a recent string of posts on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Selkis sparked controversy, with extremist posts and for inciting hate.
“Anyone that votes against Trump at this point can die in a f****** fire. Literal war,” posted Selkis.
I’m sorry I was angry last weekend.
I’ve seen enough of President Trump to love the man and his sacrifice.
I took things too far after I saw the result of 10 years of hate nearly take his life.
We will win through character, strength and non-violence.
No hard feelings, Molly. https://t.co/9kgBx0LfnH

On July 13, Trump survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania when Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, took aim at the controversial political figure.
The shooter’s motive remains unknown, current president Biden has urged Americans to “lower the temperature” amid increasingly isolated political strata across the U.S.
Following the assassination attempt Messari founder went on to post on that a, “Civil War for the country started today.”
Openly interacting with followers, Selkis continued to post anti-immigration comments questioning one user if they were a green card holder or a citizen.
You got some screenshots from the aftermath of a failed assassination, but I have a lifetime of relationships.
I’m hard to kill and everyone who bets against me loses for a reason.
I respect you as a critic, as I’ve said numerous times in the past.

The comments, which were posted over the weekend, quickly drew attention and backlash from various people, leading Selkis to issue an apology.
“I’m sorry I was angry last weekend. I’ve seen enough of President Trump to love the man and his sacrifice. I took things too far after I saw the result of 10 years of hate nearly take his life. We will win through character, strength, and non-violence.”
Selkis expressed regret but made his strong admiration for former President Trump, a polarizing figure in American politics clear.
The Messari founder and CEO’s comments are perceived by many as extremist, especially given the current political climate in the US.
Earlier today, after posting the apology, Selkis continued with, “I’m hard to kill and everyone who bets against me loses for a reason.”
Following the assassination attempt polymarket has predicted Republican frontrunner Trump as potentially winning the November 2024 election against current U.S. President Joe Biden at 69%, data from the prediction market reveals.
Ryan also took a jab at Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin, calling him “naive and useless political commentator.” Vitalik had earlier argued that crypto community should not vote for a poltician just because they are “pro crypto,” and asked to dig deeper into the party’s polcies on encrytption and digital privacy.
I respect Vitalik but he has always been among the most naive and useless political commentators in crypto. Idealism is not realism, and he pretends we aren’t dealing with a cultural cancer and infestation of Marxism.
He’s wrong.@VitalikButerin I’m always happy to chat. https://t.co/mMFKnv6uBI
