The first day of the Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC) in Belgium began on July 8, featuring pivotal discussions and insights into the future of decentralized finance (DeFi) and Web3 social networks.

He emphasized DeFi as a transparent, borderless economy transcending geographical and socio-economic barriers.
“DeFi is in its nature a transparent, borderless economy so it allows you the possibility to transact no matter your background. It has grown significantly and it’s here to stay,” Kulechov stated.

At EthCC, decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregator 1inch Labs launched the 1inch Developer Portal, now available to Web3 developers.
1inch Labs explained that the Web3 RPC API offers Web3 developers more efficient RPC blockchain interactions without the need to run their own nodes.
The Ethereum Name Service (ENS), an open-source blockchain naming protocol, relaunched its revamped website experience at EthCC.
ENS announced it is keeping its logo but refreshing its brand aesthetic. The application, powered by the Thorin design system, remains unchanged.
Uniswap Foundation: Emphasizing Collaboration
Raffi Sapire discussed pressing challenges faced by researchers in the DeFi space.
As the Chief Operating Officer of the Uniswap Foundation, Sapire highlighted two primary issues: integrating research into the broader DeFi ecosystem and transitioning from theory to practice.
“Collaboration is key for researchers to move their research forward and progress the DeFi space, and when I think of DeFi in terms of Uniswap, we are thinking about how to onboard the next million users,” she remarked.
Sapire underscored the importance of collaboration across different chains and protocols to drive innovation and scalability in DeFi.
She argues that isolated research efforts often fall short in addressing the complex, interconnected nature of blockchain systems.
Instead, cross-chain and cross-protocol collaborations are crucial for creating robust solutions that can be adopted at scale.
