Crypto PAC-backed Democratic congressional candidate in Arizona, Yassamin Ansari, has narrowly won her opponent by 39 votes in primary election.
Ansari’s opponent candidate Sen. Raquel Terán had been endorsed by leading crypto critic Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
Ansari’s razor-thin congressional primary win comes after the crypto’s leading political action committee (PAC), Fairshake, spent around $1.4 million in ad towards supporting Ansari.
“We were proud to support a leader who will come to Congress and work across the aisle and embrace innovation to grow our economy,” Josh Vlasto, a Fairshake spokesman, noted at the time.
The Fairshake super PAC and its affiliates have also allocated $12 million in de-throning current Sen. Sherrod Brown in Ohio and in support of Ohio Senate hopeful Bernie Moreno.
Additionally, the crypto PAC said it will allocate $3 million each in Arizona and Michigan to support the Republican representatives.
Ansari told reporters on Tuesday that this “landslide victory” with 39-vote difference is the “product of a lot of work.”
“This 39-vote difference has been a testament to what we as Democrats already know: every vote matters.”
In contrast, LUCHA Arizona, a liberal community organizing group noted that the community is “mourning” for Raquel Terán’s loss to “crypto and MAGA money candidate Ansari.”
Alejandra Gomez, Executive Director of LUCHA, also criticized Ansari for being a “crypto billionaire-backed, MAGA-funded candidate”. Gomez accused her for using open congressional seats as a stepping stone to fulfill their personal political ambitions.
Crypto Super PAC Fairshake’s $25 Million Fund in Election Ad Campaign
The crypto PAC Fairshake supports candidates pushing for “a clearer regulatory and legal framework” for the blockchain sector.
Interestingly, it has announced a $25 million television advertising campaign for over a dozen crypto-friendly House of Representative candidates.
Further, Fairshake has successfully taken down anti-crypto representatives, with recent advertising campaign of $2 million against ousting Rep. Jamaal Bowman.
So far, the Super PAC Fairshake backs 18 House of Representative hopefuls from both parties.
